Obituary of Yvonne Kamilla Van Raes

The family announces the unexpected passing of Yvonne Van Raes (Desnyder) on September 19, 2019 of Rodney. Beloved wife of Remi Van Raes who shared 68 years of marriage. Loving mom of Roger (Eva) Van Raes and David (Anita) Van Raes. Grandmother to Krista (Shaun) Szabo, Caitlin (Shawn) Sabo, Tanya (Pete) Van Raes and Scott (Katie) Van Raes. Great Grandma to Jason, Carson and Payton Szabo and Iroh Van Raes. Predeceased by her grandson Joe Van Raes (2018). Survived by nieces, nephews and extended family. 

Yvonne and Remi met in 1947 in Belgium. They immigrated to Canada in 1950 and married 14 days later in Port Burwell, Ontario. They settled in Rodney on a farm growing tobacco in 1954. 

Visitation will be held at Denning’s of Rodney on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service is Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
