Obituary of Donald William Greer

Don passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2022 after a long and courageous battle at the age of 83.  Saluted and loved by his 1st mate Janet "Bobbie" for nearly 62 years.  Lovingly remembered by his very proud children; Kelly (Nelson), Carolyn, Jim (Julie) and Deb.

Cherished grandfather to Katie (Josh), Matt, Megan, Braeden, Garrett, Taylor, Morgan and their families and great grandfather to Eve, Hannah, Chase and Natasha.

Predeceased by his parents, Bill and Kay Greer and his brother Norman Greer.

Fondly remembered and loved by his sister Marilynne (Cliff) and family.  Don was born in St. Thomas and lived his childhood years in Port Stanley and Aylmer, until he enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17, serving for 5 years and sailing the seas of Cuba, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean countries as well as England and Ireland.  It was here he learned his trade as an electrician.  In the Navy he met his 1st mate and love of his life Janet, most affectionately known as Bobbie.  They were married nearly 62 years.

The last few years dealt him difficult health issues but he was brave through it all and as we said our final goodbyes, his mate Bobbie saluted her fallen Navy comrade with much pride.  We all salute you.
